Based on 288 reviewsButterworth Cafe is widely appreciated for its nostalgic charm and old-school ambiance, offering a unique blend of Western cuisine with a rustic, historic atmosphere. Customers often highlight the friendly and attentive staff alongside reasonably priced dishes that evoke a homemade, comforting feel. Popular menu items, such as seafood pizza and Chicken Maryland, receive consistent praise, though some dishes like Fish Cordon Bleu have received mixed feedback. While the cafe’s vintage vibe and traditional setting are seen as key strengths, occasional concerns about air conditioning and staff visibility have been noted. Overall, Butterworth Cafe provides a memorable dining experience rooted in local history and classic flavors.
Nice oldies songs, very friendly boss and staff. Cooling place, traditional Hainanies food and people. Reasonable price.
Old school classic cafe serving comforting western food. Chicken maryland and seafood pizza were pretty good. Got that homemade feeling and taste to the food.
Rustic! Oldest Cafe in Butterworth. It's worth trying to visit to exper3ince what the Air Force soldiers experienced post Merdeka. There is a lot of history in this place, and I can imagine the sound of fighters taking off and landing behind the cafe. Food and beverage quality is very much depending on one's taste and preferences. But overall, it is very acceptable for me and my family. Service speed varies, and I will complain about it as the objective was to dine and chill. Parking is very limited and can be tricky indeed. Overall, I still love the atmosphere. Will revisit and have to be very intended at selected time to manage parking expectations.
This is an old Western food place. But I came here for the first time while my relative came a few times, so they brought us here. Most of the food was unexpectedly good. Especially the pizza tasted so yummy. We love the food. The price is reasonable too. But we don’t recommend Fish Cordon Bleu. Not tasty enough. However we felt that the super hot weather problem and the AC location problem caused the place a bit stuffy.
There are quite a number of options of food to choose from, lots of different sauces and a lovely tiramisu cake. The overally vibe is kinda western? Super cool and the waiting staff is nice but they tend to wait in an area they can't see you, so you'll have to get up to walk to them to catch their attention. There's drinking water available and condiments available by the counter that I wish I noticed before I finished my meal.
Like the cottage atmosphere here. Very old-fashioned. Food is good. Price is reasonable.
Hidden gem in Butterworth! Quality foods with quality service. Love the chicken chop and Italian sausage. Even the wavy fries was delicious! Decent portion. Heard the tiramisu cook is made in house, will definitely come back and try them. We enjoyed our meal very much!
